I need some advice. I have a guy in W TN wanting to buy the boat and said he would give me the $2,000 I am asking for it. The catch is he wants me to meet him 1/2 way in Nashville to make the deal. Thats a tank of gas for the round trip and the possibility that he might not want it or try to use the distance back home as leverage to offer lot less when I get it there.

Would you haul it over to Nashville or hold out for a local buyer?

That's right ole blue, I'd ask for some kind of deposit. A couple of hundred at least that way if he's a no show you're only out your time

Makes sense to get a deposit. I sure as heck don't want to drive all the way over to Nashville and spend $100 for nothing.

man thats a sweet boat for 2000 grand.. way nicer then what I bought for 1500 while back..If he wants he should drive to you or pay for all of your gas to deliver .. just my thoughts

It strictly depends on how bad you want to sell it.... or how bad he wants to buy it.

If I was the potential buyer, I might send you a deposit provided it was "refundable" if I decided it wasn't the boat I wanted. But I wouldn't pay just to have you drive and meet me.

The guy who bought my old boat drove all the way to my driveway from Paducah, KY to get it... sight unseen. So like I said... strictly depends upon how badly you want to sell, it how bad he wants to buy it.

If you drive to Nashville... he might think he's in a much better position to "negotiate," assuming that you really won't be in the frame of mind to haul it back home and be willing to shave another $100 or 2 off the price???

I am not the negotiating type after I make a deal. If he starts that stuff he will just watch a boat pull away.

After I talked to him now he is coming to my house to get it and paying a deposit for me to hold it for him.
