So I finally got myself a boat! 20' 6" commercial fishing flat bottom! I'm wanting to paint it, so what would be the best way(cheaper) to do it? I'm gonna camo it out!

Drag it off the trailer and get it up on some heavy duty saw horses. Pressure wash the thing really good. Look for any damage and repair if needed. Rough up the finish with sandpaper if needed. Clean boat again. Prime any exposed metal and break out the paint. It depends on how fancy you want to get with it but I have seen patterns that you can buy on the internet.

If you are going to sand it to bare metal you will need a self etching primer. You can get it in a spray bomb. How do you plan to apply the paint? If you have dents you can fix them with body filler (bondo) .You can get custom mixed colors in spray can's ,but it's about 23.00 a can. If you can buy your paint by the pint or quart you will save money.Paint is like most things , you get what you pay for. So if you plan on making it hold up , spend a few extra bucks and get good paint.

I am not sure if you can still get Emron paint or not. I havent done this in years but I paint one of my aluminum boats with emron. It is the thoughest paint I have came across. If I were you I would find a paint store that sells automotive paint and talk to them about your project. They will be able to tell you the best stuff for the job. Paint is like anything else. The good stuff costs more but you get what you pay for. Good Luck.
