Need trolling motor batteries ! Any place in Cleveland area to get some good / cheap ones ?
Thought my motor guide was about to kick the bucket the last 2 trips , today it would only put out like it was set on 1 but I had it on 5 which usually pulls the boat
better than the old 90 hp Johnson LoL .
I recently put a new plug in ( foot control to power ) and wired it to only run on 24 volts and wired the batteries together a month ago . Thought maybe I screwed this up as well emoDoh
I checked voltage on both , one good @ 12 volts , one at 4 volts ....... thought maybe my charger wasn't working , when I put it on the battery it was arching and kicking the charger off within
10 seconds .............. pulled battery out and 1/2 the cells were about dry . Topped them off and charged it 5 hours and battery is still around 4 volts . I'm trying to remember if a deep cycle
will charge again and still be useable after its been dry ? But seems like it would be worth the effort to get new one's vs. cutting a trip short because the trolling motor is dead .
Both batteries are 6 years old , so figured I'd go ahead and replace them both .
These were both Sears deep cycle batteries , I'm thinking 6+ years is pretty good for a set , but auto zone's were about 40 bucks cheaper for the pair ? There used to be a battery place around here
years ago where you could buy recycled batteries cheap .....
Thx in advance
