I will be looking at getting a new reel, and I am stuck between the Citica and the new Curado. Which one would you all recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I love my Citicas; I have three. For the price I think they are one of the best buys. I haven't used one of the newer Curado's yet but when I have the option of getting a great reel and a good rod for the same price as one reel, I choose the combo. I would like one of the new Curado's though to go on my All Star that I got from RR. Maybe I'll treat myself this spring. I just got back into bass fishing seriously about a year ago so I haven't tried a multitude of different reels, which makes it hard to give you a lot of comparisons. They were replacements for old lew's speed spools that had pretty much lost their distance. I will say though that they haven't given me any trouble at all and I have managed to get some crazy distance with a TR worm when I get the breaks optimized just right. Hope that helps some.emoThumbsup --SJ

I have both and there is really very little difference. The Curado is a bit smoother but I bet if you blindfolded me I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I do have the high speed (7.1:1) Curado and if you are looking for that speed you have to get the Curado, they don't offer the Citica in that ratio. You'll be happy with either one though as they are both great reels.

I have 4 of the new Curados in the 6:1 and I love them. They are smooth in all respects, and feel good in your hand.

If you want a bargain, I have 3 Calcuttas for sale....emoSmile

I have both, and love them both. I would look on Ebay and find the old model Curados. The green ones, they are a delight.
