Hey guys and gals... it is getting close to time for me to upgrade from my antique to a newer boat and motor. I am considering finding a used boat that has a blown motor or no motor at all, and purchase a brand new motor to go on it with full warranty. My question is simple... which motor company has the best warranty and is the most reliable. I am leaning toward the evinrude and the yamaha brand motors, but I am not opposed to mercury. Just want to get the most for my money. Any suggestions?

Also, who makes the best boat for a budget fisherman. Please Give Example of why you like that brand and not just because it is a popular boat. I want 19' minimum. Plenty of storage. comfort in the driver seat as well as front deck. plenty of deck space, enough for 2 people comfortably. And smother ride.

I done exactly what your talking about 2 years ago I checked every thing and my best deal wound up being a Mercury . One reason is the boat I bought was set up with Merc before I got it so after all the hair pulling, nail biting, phone calling,& a road trip or 2 I chose Mercury and it has 5 years warranty. If I remember right the controls to change over if I wanted a Evinrude, Yamaha, or Suzuki would have been another 1 to 2 grand.. I am satisfied that I chose Mercury and I hung it on a 2000 model Blazer. Regardless of what you do it is exspensive, even with the used boat I still have over 21 grand invested. GOOD LUCK

Mercury has 3 plus 2 and another 2 can be added let me know I can walk you thru our triton line up or even ranger, fiberglass or aluminum

What size merc. did you go with?

200 pro xs and I love it I can go fishing several times on 20 dollars worth of gas, other boats I've had that was 1 trip or 2 at best.. I never run wot except when I am setting it up for a certain prop

There a lot of good brands out there. What do you like to do? Fish, bass cat etc? Any tubing or skiing? Do you want floor space for kids or all deck space and storage? Hunt in the winter?

I like to bass fish. A prefer bullets. Locally owned and operated in knoxville. Hand built with good materials. The design is timeless, and simple the storage is simple but very customizable. Any brand of used boat it comes down to who owned it and how did they treat it. Many models in the 20'3" hull. Vee,XF, XD ,XRD, dc,xdc. Some of the best fuel efficiency (allison and stroker are up their too). A 20ft boat can run in the mid 60s with a 150.

I mainly like to bass fish, I do not care for the second console but my wife want it, I would like a boat that can mainly be a bass fishing boat, plenty of storage , stable on the water, and have 3 across seating as I will be taking my wife and daughter. If I can afford it and get approval from wife, I am leaning toward the tracker 195 txw with the 150 4 stroke Mercury. But would prefer a 20 foot boat with a 200 or larger for tournament use. emoBang

I've fished tournaments out of my Pro Team 190 for the last few years. There are things I have grown to dislike about it, mainly the speed, but overall I've done fine with it and made good money. By that I mean I don't make boat payments out of pocket during the summer and always have funds to keep up and replace equipment. There's still no substitution for a big nice fiberglass v-hull though.

I am partial to Ranger because I have a 1989 boat and if I call them with my hull number they will give me parts for it. Thats great customer service if you ask me. I dont know your price range, but a nice Ranger 518vx (19' w/ 200hp) or 519vs (20'6" w/ 225hp) would be my choice. Wide front deck, rides good, pretty quick, and extremely stable with the trolling motor down.

The g2? From what i have read and understand id give them a bit longer to work out the kinks. Lots of new tech on them. I love the color options. And when they are running right they are powerful motors

Regardless of what boat you buy, do not under power it. Trust me I did that once. Running a motor at WOT all the time is hard on the engine and it will suck the gas tank empty.
