Hi everyone,

I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I am new in the area, living in Ooltewah currently, I have been fishing for as long as I can remember. I am from Southeast Texas and fished mostly in the Sabine River/Lake area and further North in Sam Rayburn Lake. I am looking to explore what this area has to offer and am very anxious to get on the water. Unfortunately I am not in a position to purchase a boat and have been looking to get into kayak fishing. I am looking for an affordable kayak to get started and figured this would be a great place to start my search, if anyone has any recommendations as to where to look and what to look for I would greately appreciate any suggestions. Thanks to everyone for their contrbutions to this site.

Zach

Thanks for the warm welcome,

I have never been up there to fish we spent most of our time on the Sabine and Rayburn with a few trips to Toledo Ben.

Welcome. I just recently bought a kayak and am also looking to explore the water. I've done my fair share of fishing from the bank, but couldn't access all the spots I wanted. I got the perception sport pescador at Academy by Hamilton Place. I haven't fished from it yet, but it's comfortable and tracks pretty good (my first kayak so I don't have anything to compare it to). If you ever want some company shoot me a PM.

It is great to hear some others in the area are yak fishing. I have been searching high and low for an affordable Feel Free Moken kayak and it is great to hear someone locally that has good things to say. I am very interested in the feel frees you have, what are the sizes??? I am looking in the 10 foot range but would not be against checking out something a little bigger.
