Guys, I have been reading the reports for a while now and it sounds like fishing is great. I am in Chiropractic school down in Marietta, GA and my club is having a small tourney (7 boats) on the Chick may 16th. I was able to sneak away this weekend and am going up there Saturday to prefish a little and mainly run the lake because I have never been there before. We are launching out of Harrison Bay State Park.

While I dont want GPS coordinates as I'm not stealing anyone's spot for sure, I would much appreciate a general direction to start (Towards the dam or go north), shallow or find deeper water etc. Mainly, anything I need to look out for or any special laws that I need to know about in TN. I have my OOS fishing license, anything else?

I appreciate any help that you guys can offer. BTW, I am prefishing by myself tommorrow and putting in at daylight at HBSP, if someone wants to teach me a little about the lake, then I'd be more than happy to have you jump in and fish with me. I listed my email and phone number if anyone wants to share and not be public.

Thanks,
Justin Ard

Folks seem to be catching good numbers right now on several different techniques. Some fish are still cruising the shallows, some are already moving back off, and some are still just starting to come up. There are good numbers of fish to be caught anywhere on the lake right now. You can seriously go nearly anywhere and catch fish

Be careful out there tomorrow. CBA is having a tournament out of Chester Frost and there will be several boats screaming across the water at daylight. Best of luck in your Tourny next week!

Fish to your strengths. The bass are basically in all stages of migration right now. Last night we caught them shallow and deep. So, what you feel most comfortable fishing will probably be your best bet. Where is your tournament out of?

Thanks guys I really appreciate the advice and the heads up. I guess my strengths are flipping shallows (my favorite), football jigs on ledges, and shakeyheads on docks. I almost always start with topwater early and then flip the shallows and if nothing is going, I go and find some docks because there is almost always fish around them. The tourny is out of HBSP.

Backdoc, a few of us will be at HBSP in the morning for a crappie tx. We will be there from about 5:45 until 6:30. We will be near the ramp or on the dock. Yell at us or something. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

Sign up and fish the crappie tx. We weigh in at 11:00 am and that would leave you the rest of the day to look for those trashy green fish. emoUpsmile

Drum King, I grew up on KY lake and I gotta be honest with ya, a good day crappie fishing beats anything I've ever done on the water!!!!!

I'll in in a Maroon F150 with a Blue 18' Javelin. My name is Justin, just yell for me.

Guys, I wanna say thanks. I fished saturday form daylight until 3. Boated 28 fish all on plastics with best five going about 15lbs with 2 4lbers. Awesome day and if I do that next saturday then I've got a great chance at winning. BTW, you guys have a beautiful lake!!!!

Glad you could make it up and get on some fish! There will also be 2 other tournaments going out of HBSP this Saturday, so be careful if that is where ya'll are blasting from! Might want to get there early to try and beat the crowds!!
