Hello to all. I live on the shores of Lake Erie in Ohio. Sold my boat a few years ago and now mainly fly fish local streams for small mouth in the summer and steelhead in the winter. I own a Wyndham timeshare which I use to stay in Crossville and Sevierville the first two weeks of October. I love to fish the back country in the SMNP for native brookies. Two years ago I found the Caney Fork and had the best first day ever. Last year was a different story. I called a fly shop in Nashville for a report and was told "you can fish it from a boat...and it better be a big boat". So no Caney Fork, just golf . The park streams were also very high. The cascades were just beautiful and the park was full of camera clubs photographing them. Must have had my picture taken a hundred times. I hope to find another trout stream in the Crossville area just for a different experience. Any suggestions regarding fly fishing are appreciated.

Glad you joined up. We've got a few trout enthusiasts on here. You might want to post your questions on the General Fishing Discussion board. More people read that.

Thanks for the welcome. Think I'll just lurk for a while and get the lay of the land. Don't want to step on any toes or show my ignorance.

Welcome to the site wet-butt. There are more sites to fish than those rivers mention. Look at the site for Tennessee.gov and follow the links to the areas you like plus the river flow from TVA.gov. There is a lot of trout here plus other fish. just "come on down". Post on the site and all of us have a favorite site The latest news is a state record on yellow perch. Look at the site of Chattanooga.com then the outdoors section. There is a writer there who is quite knowable about fishing our neck of the woods. Might watch the professor for the monster fish show. He did a show on catfish where he said his weight is 174lbs. but a catfish in the 75lb size could pull him off the river bank. At the time he was trying to find a cat with the weight of 200lbs. He missed his chance but was nearly pulled into the water. I wanted to rib the pro-fisherman who writes our stories local but was a little scared he would not under stand the teasing. But any way welcome. Noodling for one might be better emoUpsmile

Welcome, Use to go up about 10 yrs. in a row, taking a ferry ride out of Sandusky OH. and stay on the islands and catch a ton of smallmouths. Haven't been in a few years but really loved it.
Good to live here but always had alot of fun up there.
Welcome again.

David.
