Howdy y'all, most folks call me JC, I live in North Georgia but fish all around whenever work and hunting season permits. I found this forum searching for forums that discussed fishing in the Chattanooga area. Been fishing since walking, now exclusively a fly fisherman and mostly target trout, panfish, and saltwater but I'll fish for anything that's biting that will put a bend in my fly rod. My oldest son (16), who is on his way to being the best fisherman I know, just recently bought his own 14' John we are fixing up together as well as an old Johnson 9.5 we have fixed so I've gotten a bit more into lake fishing scene lately. Interested in any and all help, direction, tips relating to the shallow water bite in lakes and rivers around TN. I lived in Ooltewah for a few years and have fished all around that area but that was 20 years ago so not sure how much that info is worth. Hope to be able to contribute where I can, 35yrs of flyfishing have certainly not made me an expert but I sure know how NOT to do things, sadly most from experience.

Looking forward to learning something here, thanks for the opportunity to do so.

JC

emoWelcome , Take that fly rod and a slightly weighted fluke to the chick and have a blast. I have a low end 9 footer I knock the dust off every once in a while.

I've been on this forum for about ten months now, but haven't used it as much as I did in the beginning because I started fly fishing. I started focusing all of my fishing efforts on learning the ins and outs of fly fishing and couldn't find much related info on this site as I have others (though none focusing exclusively on Chattanooga) . I've also been tying my own flies from the get-go. It's a pleasure to meet other serious fly rodders on this forum. I mainly fish for LM & SM bass in the area though I plan to expand to other species. I love casting to Red Fish and other salt water species when in Florida! I recently contacted the CFF staff about starting a forum focusing on fly fishing for warm water species such as bass. Either way it's great to hear from other fly fishermen and we're glad to have you on the CFF!!!

This forum is a very unique place, I have never seen one where members so freely share such details in reports. Many thanks for the warm welcome.

Hey Bro, the internet can be small world sometimes! We need to stretch some line out on that new 3wt you built when you get to the point you can. Preshate you kind words, you know I feel the same about you too. After Sunday's cat on a fly, I may start looking for some of those "freight trains" with the 9wt emoTongue

Now, I wonder if I can come up with a cut bait fly patter emoScratch
