Alot of E-tecs sold with very little problems. I lean more towards mercury but when it comes to DFI technology I feel that OMC has taken the plunge to develope this technology. They came out with it first and they have advanced it so far that when everyone jumped on the 4 stroke band wagon they stuck with it. They have engines that are 2 stroke that burn cleaner than 4 strokes due to the high fuel/air pressure and the way it is injected into the combustion chamber. Just my 2 cents worth.

Go with the Suzuki 115 4-stroke, I have had one almost 3 years and it is the finest motor money can buy in my book, it comes with a 6 year warranty. You won't find a bad post anywhere on the net about this motor, it is quite, sips gas, and it starts just like your car with the fuel injection, purrs like a kitten, can't tell if it is running or not sometimes. I can't say enough good about this motor and this is my opinion, not others.

Suzuki do make good engines... just hard to get service and parts for. Not as easy to run to town and pick up parts or find someone to work on them. I have a suzuki DT140 here now had to order parts from Brrowns point and will be 2 weeks for them, they had to order one of them. Very limited to aftermarket parts for them.

i agree, service meens everything, no doubt they are a fine motor, but in my experience with every japenese motor or sterndrive( on occasion) it seems like the factory parts cost up to 3 times as much as merc or omc parts which are marked WAY up any way

Merc and OMC parts are ALOT easier to find and cheaper. I had a guy had a 115 nissan engine, lower went out, he bought a 16' speed boat with a 115 johnson on it and put the johnson on his for 1/2 of what the repair was for the lower and has the boat to recoop some more of his money plus the engine to sell.

e-tec is the sh#t. very quiet and low maintance. 2008 stratos 201XLE with 250h.o. evinrude. There is nothing thats beat us yet and i mean nothing. We have ran jet skis down and passed them at 80.

THe 115v4 carb Yamaha is as bullet proof a motor that is on this planet. They are tried and true. I saw a ton of them in the ocean when I lived in Florida, they run for ever cheap to work on, and not much can go wrong with them. They do obviously burn more gas then the 4's or DFI. But there worth it in the long run, cause you wont be in the shop

Yammies have some good ignitions, alot of people convert mercs to run the yammie ignition with good results.

You know something about fast boats don't ya Paul???LOL!!! Is it 3 records??

It will save you a ton on fuel. Just be prepaired to spend what you saved if it ever tears up out of warranty, but that holds true to any of the DFI engines. Congradulations on you purchase. Hope you have many, many years of trouble free use!!!!!!
