I ordered a new piston for an over bored cylinder on my 115 merc. The new piston has a third hole through the side of it. This is aside from the holes that the pin go in. Has anybody ever seen this before or did they send me the wrong pidyon?!?

That is for the booster port of a 150 inline. That was the major difference between the 115 and the 150 was the booster port which is another intake passage. You are not able to buy one without the booser port.

Thanks James. You have been a life saver in this whole situation. We tried to install the crank using the method that you gave with no compressors. Couldn't make it happen emoScratch We rotated the clamps a few different ways, and after three tries, 2 hrs, & 2 broken rings we gave up. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems that the adjustment screw on the clamps makes contact before the rest of the band causing it to slide @ an angle. Is there something that i'm doing wrong?

There are 2 notches on the cylinder for the factory special tool to fall in. Put the clamp heads in those areas. You are using a single clamp per piston correct? Are they 2 or 3 ring pistons???

They are three ring pistons and I'm using one clamp per piston, holding the crank and trying to work them in one at a time.

by your self??? It takes 2 to do it. It is hard, but can be done as I have done it many times in the past. The clamps need to be snug and not completely tight.
