Shook off my old TC Black Diamond today and put the cash towards a new TC Omega. Weather Gaurd barrel, Real Tree Stock and break down action. There was nothing wrong with the other, I just wanted a smoother looking one that's a tad easier to clean and operate. I'm stoked and can't wait to mount the scope and let the smoke roll. Love those guns!!!

Black Diamond then the Omega.

Right there with you. emoThumbsup emoThumbsup I am on my third up grade. emoTongue The word, "Primitive Weapon" really does not fit the new and improved black powder guns. They are as deadly as a regular HP rifle but love the longer season with the BP hunts. emoBigsmile I will be looking forward to some good reports, stories and pictures this year once you hit the woods. emoToast Jmax

I'd rather shoot those than any other rifle. It's just addictive!! Haven't really been to the woods much. Went up and threw out some throw and grow a month ago. Picked out another area for my 2nd stand. Went back up 3 weeks later and that throw and grow is coming on!!! Hung the new stand and was outta there. Teddy and I will go up Monday to mark our ways in alittle different this year and set up our climbing stix. After that, I'm staying clear of our areas until black powder! I have a small area here I can bow hunt and another for turkey. Getting that bug now! I still need to hook up with someone on a hog hunt though!!!

I love black powder hunting. It made me a much better hunter. I started out with an old 58 caliber side lock and worked my way up to the modern inline. Those old punkin balls were not all that accurate and you had to wait on the perfect shot. Which caused me to make sure I had the perfect tree and perfect wind direction. Now all that preparation really pays off that I have BP rifle that is reliable and very accurate.

I have an Omega with a Nikon Monark 3x9. Stay away from Powerbelts. They shoot hard and straight for targets. However with six extra huge bucks at close range I was lucky to recover only one without one single drop of blood to trail. I lost Five big 8 point and better bucks with positive kill shot placement. I have only lost one other deer in over ten years to a Bow through shot. Last season with all the opportunities I never popped the first cap in fear of wasting a nice buck. I was seeing and patterning good bucks Last year day one of Gun 10 Pntr ... Day two an as big 8 pntr ... day three. filmed a big eight pntr for You tube rather than tagging out. I recommend TC sabots and triple-7 pellets for the best Kill results. BTW. The one wide rack buck I did happen to find had no trace of the bullet inside nor did it exit the animal. I even searched the gut pile with a metal detector and found nothing. It appeared that the high speed jacketed Powerbelt bullet had penetrated about three inches then totally disintegrated as would my varmint loads in ground hogs. I can not stand to lose any game animal so that really messed with my hunting. No Powerbelts for me But I have several packs for sale.

Pyro for me. 3 of us hunt together so we keep all the same stuff on us. The Sabots have always been Shockwaves, 250G. Winchester 209s. :) I had one get antsy on me but dropped about 40 yards from the hit. The rest just fell. LOL

I like the IMR white hot pellets seems to burn a little cleaner than pyrodex and have had good results behind the green powerbelts 245gr

I have the X-7 mountain edition Omega. It has the shorter stainless barrel that is also fluted. Laminated walnut stock-prettiest gun I own. I shoot the 250 grain, EZglide sabbots (hornady sst). And 2x50 grain pyrodex pellets. Nikon prostaff-3-9x40. Great gun!

So, Buoy Master has gotten me interested in this thing you call black powder. Considering getting one for sell on this here site, but doing a little more research.

Mostly commented here to be able to follow the conversation.

As you were, gentlemen.

I built my BP Rifle. I bought a stainless steel Remington 50 cal Muzzle loader Barrel and 700 action. It was originally a percussion cap but converted it to a 209 primer. Put it on a Boyd Brothers thumb hole stock. I even got the unfinished stock so I had to sand it and finish it. I messed around with a few scopes and finally found a Leupold 3x9 in Stainless. It is a really awesome looking set up.

I shoot 2 (50 grain) 777 pellets and a 250 grain Barnes Expander for local hunting. When I venture to big fields (200+ Yards) I switch to 3 (50 grain ) 777 pellets and 300 grain lock-N-Load Speed Sabots. (I have to do some bench/sight in work to get it dialed in that far.)
