I was in Cleveland today and saw a new tackle/bait shop, Smokey Mountain Tackle Co. I stopped and went in and it is a really neat mom and pop operation with a great selection and even better customer service. In addition to live and artificial baits, they have rods, reels, rain gear and the works. I talked to the owner Dewayne Lowe. He fishes with Cleveland Bassmasters and has even fished with someone he said went by the name of Jerry Cornwell. I told him it was none of my business who he fishes withemoPoke emoLaugh

Its about 4-5 weeks old, yeah it's new!

Smokey Mountain Tackle, located in the shopping mall where Blockbuster, Tuesday Morning and Checkers are... the shopping mall is where 25th and Keith St. meet.

You should beable to see the bait shop if you go behind Checkers, its back up in there.

Its a pretty nice bait shop I thought.

Dewayne is a great guy,I had the pleasure of fishing with him in my first cleveland bassmasters tourny on watts bar this spring.Go by and give him some support !

i stopped in today to get a new reel to replace my abu cardinal 103 ,lost the drag screw that holds the spool on to
the hiwassee river sunday, i had been wanting a pfluegar president wich they had in the size i wanted.
they are indeed a great bunch of folks to deal with and the young man in there knows his reels emoThumbsup
if i didnt allready have my mind set on the president i may have went with some of his other recomendations
some cheaper others not. he did a good job of listing specs, pros and cons of just about every spinning reel in the
case. they are also looking for a supplier of bass boat saver to keep some on the shelf at my asking. and they have allready got some things in that i asked about but they didnt have at the time so of course i bought
those too emoTongue they also said they were working on getting some banner adds to advertise here on the forum.
so those in the cleveland area stop in .. you wont be disapointed

yea i stopped in just the other day just to get a couple of things but even though i didnt spend alot they treated me like i was buying 300 dollars worth of stuff very nice people

If pointer taught him eyerything he knows it must have been a short night class!!!!!!!!! I have been fishing against Dewayne for about 5 years. He is a good fisherman. Dewayne, wife (LeAnn) and son David are all nice people. I recommend their place to everyone, it is clean, nicely done and gives you something most places don't anymore friendly service.

Also stopped in the other day , very nice guy , very helpful . It was HARD to find , but now I know where its at and I've been passing the word around at work , we usually have a work tourny once a month and end up with 8 - 10 boats , good fun !

I heard an ad on the local radio the other day and they mentioned it was BEHIND elliots and Checkers , I'd said something to him about several guys had looked and never found it and that he MIGHT start mentioning its in the rear ! Nice place and great customer service , I'll go by there before I try walmart , our local wally's fishing section has really gotten smaller and smaller anyway . Legends in Athens seems to always be out of what your go up there for ( And I can't stay out of the pistol area when I go it DOAH ) . SO yes , give SMTC a try !

works great!

Went by myself this afternoon for some lead. Dewayne's got what you need, and offered to stock anything I was asking about. Seems like a VERY nice guy. I just dont know why he fishes with some of the rif-raf on here though
