Hello,

I recently moved here from Virginia and I love the outdoor factor that Chattanooga has to offer fishermen. My only complaint is that since I am new, I am looking for good places to fish. I dont have a boat so it would be totally shore-based fishing and my dad is coming to visit in a few weeks and is really excited about the fishing here to. I was wondering if you guys could offer any advice on where to go specifically. Thanks

I started bass fishing at Harrison Bay State Park, fishing from the shore. The area around the marina offers a half mile of unobstructed shoreline to make casts. I used a Rapala Floating Minnow, a Hula Popper and a small white spinnerbait. I would start fishing 90 minutes before sundown most days. Other days, I would use the same lures from sunup till around 9:00 a.m.

look for grass with bait.top water bait is what everbody is catching them on.Buzz, frog, floating worm, hope this help.Oh and chester frost is a good place to start.

Small fishing "piers" are available at Wolftever Creek, Harrison Bay State Park, Chester Frost Park and below Chickamauga Dam as well as bank fishing from lots of shoreline in these same areas. Many people fish under Wolftever Bridge on Hwy 58 and do pretty well at times. I see lots of people bank fishing below Chickamauga dam on both sides of the river. The water can really be swift in these locations, however, so you need to be careful. I do see the occasional life jacket being worn even on the bank at the dam, especially when kids are fishing, depending on the water situation. Lots of people fish beside Yaphank bridge in Soddy Daisy, Possum Creek Bridge and Browns Bridge in the Sale Creek area.

If you get out in these areas and simply drive around, you'll see LOTS of locations for bank fishing. I heard an 11+LB bass was caught from the bank in Soddy lake in the past year.

I would fish those areas that were discussed but add a frog or rat to your box there is a lot of grass and big bass
