Im just about to get into tournament fishing and i was wanting to get some helpful tips. Ive fished my whole life but not in tournaments, so any info would be helpful.

The best info I can give is to not team up with that loser Skeeter. He can't catch a cold in a net. emoWelcome. You gotta long season ahead of you Josh

The best advise I'd give is to take T's with a grain of salt. Don't get so consumed in fishing for $ that you forget why you started fishing to begin with. The other thing I'd do is fish smaller T's or trails and get to know not only the T atmosphere, but more importantly, get to know those you are fishing with/against. It just makes the experience sweeter. Fishing with/against friends is way more fun and less stressful than the alternative.

If you love competition and tend to be anti-social, then forget everything I just said. BTW ... welcome aboard the CFF.

I appreciate the advice, i do it for the love of fishing, there's nothing like having that bass on your line. But i'm taking it slow at first and i'm fishing with friends so it should be a great experience.

You'll definitely want to steer clear of Skeeter then! emoPoke

RR, sumed it up. Just remeber to have fun. If it gets to a point where it is no longer fun, you may be in the wrong place. BTW-Welcome!

I'll give ya some great advice!! Now listen close........don't do anything and I mean anything that I would in a tournament and you'll have a chance!!!! emoLaugh Have fun with it, get a couple fishing reports in and join our "Family Traditions Trail", you'll see how serious most of us goons are.

what kind of trail/tournaments are you fishing? I would recommend fishing the Southern Anglers trail it is a very good trail for someone starting out with modest entry fees and a pretty good group of guys. It is really more of a club than a tournament trail, pretty relaxed and laid back.

Bring along a good tool kit. Everything in your boat will tear up when you are in competition. Me and my partner had to pull start a 50 HP Yamaha with a shoestring once. That's just one of the many breakdown stories.

Like the others have said. Have fun. More people lose money than make money in tournaments.

My advise.... Get involved with a BASS club... compete as a non-boater... Try the Walmart BFL as a co-angler. Fishing from the back of the boat will make you a better angler.
