Guys, I had to replace the original boards that came on my trailer this morning. I upgraded them in my opinion. At least the initial loading of the boat was so much smoother than with the old runners. I replaced the 2 x 4's with 2 x 6's and did a much better job of carpeting them than the company that builds trailers for the trackers.

I also did this with my old tracker and the 2 x 6's do a much better job than what comes on the trailers. Costs a little more, but should last much longer.

Great job DK. I hope you chose to use pressure treated 2x6's. I've had to replace mine because the PRO-Craft company used regular pine and not pressure treated.

Yes I did. If not, I would be replacing them every year. This should last for at least 5 or 6 years, I hope.

I sure wish my wife would do mine !

Great looking job drumking. It looks very sturdy. Did you use pre-cut bunk carpet or cut your own from bulk carpet ?

I just did mine also, used 2x6 pt lumber with a carpet remnant from Home Depot. I looked at Boaters World, they wanted like $100.00 for 2x4's! This was much cheaper for better quality I think. Although my tralier is not as pretty as yours.emoLaugh emoWorthy

We bought indoor/outdoor carpet at Lowe's and did it ourselves. Using 9/16" staples, we attached the carpet to the bottom of the board. Then on the ends where we folded it back under, I used 1" hex screws along with the staples to make sure that it never comes loose. Really neat job even if we did it ourselves and yes, Fat Albert, Wanda did help me some.

I want to paint mine and redo runners .. I just cant figure out what to do with boat while doing it emoScratch emoQuestion I wonder what a marina would charge per day to leave boat there while painting and runners emoQuestion emoScratch , I could just take to Chester Frost and do it in the parking lot .. but I would feel weird doing it there .. and not to mention the county wouldnt be to pleased to have a outline of over spray where my trailer sat emoTongue emoLaugh emoLaugh maybe I could just tell the ranger I was making sure the next person knew for sure where to park their trailer emoLaugh

Thanks for the info, drumking. I'm going to redo mine soon and this helps !

Unless, of course, my Wife decides to do it before I get to it ! emoSmile
