Hi guys (and gals). This is my first post although I've been lurking for a while. I'm 64 years old and hope to check the Chick off the bucket list in April/May assuming the old ticker keeps ticking until then. My real name is Rick Helmuth and my screen name is in honor of one of my all time favorite dogs (now deceased), Jake - a rescued greyhound. My real kids are all grown and out of the nest and Judy and I now have a Boxer (Pete) and a Standard Poodle (Lily) to spoil instead.
Judy (my only fishing partner) and I have bass fished lakes from Okeechobee to Ontario with various amounts of catching success but a success rate of 100% on the fun scale. To date, Lake St. Clair (Michigan) and Kentucky Lake rank numbers 1 & 2 in the catching success. Each year on Jan. 1st at halftime of the Rose Bowl we draw a lake out of the bucket (really a pitcher shaped like a greyhound that I bought at an antique store) to determine our annual spring-summer fishing trip. This year it was Chickamaugua and we have a week at the end of May/beginning of April reserved at Island Cove Marina motel.
I won't be so pretentious as to ask for waypoints and fishing spots but I'll be seeking some navigation advice, clarification of Tennessee's umbrella rig rule and some non-fishing tourist questions for the Chattanooga area.
Thanks for having me and I'm looking forward to getting to know you.
