Here's the deal...I've always loved the woods and hunting since I was little. The problem is I grew up in Miami where "woods" and "hunting" do not exist. Haha. My parents have never hunted nor have they ever had the urge to. A couple of my buddies would go up north near Lake Okeechobee to a ranch and hunt hogs, but I never went with them because I was always too busy with sports. Long story short, I have absoluely no idea why I love being out in woods nor why I love hunting since I didnt really know anyone that hunted or hiked or done anything outdoors except mainly saltwater fishing while growing up. No one introduced me to these things, I was just born this way. emoScratch

With muzzle loader season opening this weekend and rifle season around the corner, I WANT TO TAKE DOWN A BUCK!!! I have ZERO experience hunting, but I do have my own gear (I think I have all I need: rifle, ammo, clothes, am I missing anything else?) because I had planned on learning to hunt a couple years ago but didnt know anyone in town to help me out. Honestly, I have not shot my rifle in about 6 months, but when I used to shoot it more often I was a half decent shot (not great, not terrible) at 100 yards. I used to live with my in-laws on the back side of Signal Mountain so I used to shoot a bunch, but I moved to the East Brainerd/Ooltewah area a little over a year ago and shooting my rifle has been few and far between.

Now to the point of this thread. I dont have a muzzle loader, but I do have a 30.06, so I'm not looking to go out until rifle season opens up. I am asking if anyone is willing to take me with them. The main thing I want to do is learn. If I happen to get the opportunity to shoot a buck, HELL YEAH!! But if not, its no big deal. I would do everything in my power to not get in your way or ruin the hunt. You can do all the shooting if you feel more comfortable that way. Like I said, learning to hunt is my number one priority. I will help pay for anything that I need to.

I just want to add that I also want to learn to duck and turkey hunt. I have a 12 gauge for that. So borrowing firearms is not necessary.

This forum is awesome and has helped me tremendously with bass fishing, now its time to learn to hunt!!! I really appreciate all the help Ive received. emoThanks

Just once in your lifetime is all that is required for your Hunter safety, They assume most people remember the training which is a mistake with some I know.
Licenses must be renewed annually, Unless you spend the Big Bucks for the Lifetime Sportsman.

I have a valid hunting license, but I never finished the hunter safety course. I did the online portion but never went to the field day. I didnt read the instructions and thought I had everything squared away. So I won't be able to hunt during deer season. But i am signed up for the field day in march, so I should be good to go for turkey season. So now Im looking for someone to take me turkey hunting in 4 or so months. Haha.
