Hi there. As an old Air Force Colonel, Aerospace Exec and Internationa Defensel Consultant, I'm delighted to be engaged to a lovely lady that lives in Whitwell TN ! Culture shock? You bet. For the last 15 years or so, I've lived in Destin Florida. The water is salty. So, I wrote some books (CATCH FISH NOW! series) about saltwater sport fishing in Florida and Mexico. Check them out on Amazon.com. But now I'm a cat or a largemouth or a smallmouth -- and it's a whole new ball game. I guess I've got a fundamental question for any local experts that may be out there. Do I need a boat to fish this area. HELP !
Thanks for your help !

PS Just got back from Mexico, where I was trying to finish a new book. My fiancee, cousin and I fished a total of 10 hours on Lake El Salto, NE of Mazatlan about 70 miles. We were on the water a total of 10 hours over two days. Our score was 137 LM's between 3 and 8 pounds. I was sure I had died and gone to heaven. El Salto's biggest I think is around 18#

Welcome to CFF, You dont have to have a boat, but it sure makes it easier to fish the river channel. Just joking. Its a little hard to fish off the bank in the middle of summer when the fish move deep, but a lot of us had to fish off the bank at some point.
