Two reports for the price of one right here. Fished with a friend of mine this weekend. I am preparing for a guide trip with a client coming up from Alabama with her nephew. Satuday morning we stayed below the dam because I knew of at least three tournmants that were going on up on the lake. River Rats had their classic this weekend with 11lbs and some oz for 1st place and 11lbs and a FEW less oz for 2nd place. Sounds like it was a tough weekend for the tournament fisherman.

Saturday morning 10/07/06 put in below the dam and we got started about 6am and fished till 1:15. We had 12lbs with just the first 3 bass that we caught. Proabbly the most impressive fish that I caught this weekend was a 4lb spotted bass he or she was a toad. This fish had a belly you would not believe. Caught approx 8 or 9 Largemouth with 3 of the fish being at least 4lbs or a little better. Caught 1 smallie approx weight 2lbs. We also got into a good mess of catfish with a flat head being the largest. I caught a flat head on a ultra light rod with 6lb test. My friend has a photograph of the fish If I can get the photo from him I will post it. I would say the fished weighd around 20 to 25 lbs. I just turned the drag down a fought the fish till he was tired about 20 minutes later the fish was in the boat. We caught about 5 or 6 channel cats. We had a good day not to mention the great weather.

Sunday morning up on the lake 10/08/06 I did not have much time to fish this morning so we hit alot of spots just checking to see were the fish were holding and what they were relating to. And we found most of the bass on the lake relating to structure, bridges, culverts, lay downs big rocks etc. And when we got a bite, there was usually two or three fish together eagerly waiting for a tender shad as well. Armed with a camera this morning and not a camera phone we got a few photos of some of the fish we caught. We hit a lot of honey spots with just a few places producing fish. We did not fish the water in between these spots and we got straight to were the fish should have been not wasting time on water that I felt was not holding fish. The fish that we caught were fat and healthy and just good quality fish.
All fish were caught on live shad. We caught 14 fish this morning all on live shad.
