Nick-A-Jack Shad Kill
Well the shad die off has started. The Lockmaster sent me a few photos of the die off. He has worked their close to 30 years and he’s never seen this before. Thousands of shad dead or dying are floating on top of the water. Either they have used up all the oxygen or the water got to hot on them to quick. The Lockmaster had to open the lock door to let them out. Reports of dead shad are showing up 8 miles below Nick-a-Jack down into Guntersville. I guess this is Mother Nature taking care of herself. As a live bait fishermen I certainly hate to see all that bait go to waste. Hopefully this will help the Striper bite in a couple of weeks. This photo is just a small sample of what has died off already.
