I am like Rsimms when it comes to posting I like to have photo's of the catch to post with the report but I was not going to put an expensive camera out in the down pour last night. And I am glad I did not take the camera because everything in the boat was saturated including my tackel box. My partner and I fished yesterday afternoon below the dam at Nick-a-jack. We started out fishing for crappie which was not biting and we moved our focus to bass which we ended up catching a few rock fish at first by mistake. And then we moved our efforts to the rock fish bite and what an afternoon and night we had. I lost count about 18 or 19 but I would say we caught about 30 fish last night. All fish were caught on 8lb. line with light action rods. I turn the drag down and let the fish go and we could let the fish run since we were the only one's below the dam last night. At times some of the fish would have 50 to 60 yds of line stretched out across the lake. We stayed till 10:30 last night and left the fish still biting. We ran out of bait. Right at dark the fish came up in the jumps several times and as soon as you would throw the shad in on top of them the fish would have it gobbled up. We just happend to be there when the fish were I guess. Great evening no matter how hard it rained. All fish were about the same size 14 to 17lbs. and my thumb and palm looks like it has had a grinder on it.

Man that sounds like fun. Are you netting your bait? I have to go to Scottsboro Saturday morning, my son will be me and we plan on fishing there on our way back. Is the bait easy enough to catch?

Well I feel your pain on the wet part Captain.....I was above the dam til about dark and it rained fairly hard and steady the entire time I was there!! And I can also say that you had WAY more fun than I did looks like!!

Xroadbasser....do you and Carl work together??? Youre keepin about the same schedule!!!emoPoke

Wow, what a trip! Gonna need some time to heal that thumb....been there done that!
Nickajack has been way overdue to start producing some Stripers after the slow spring.

That's why I carry gloves when I striper fish. They will tear your thumb up because the lips are like sandpaper and they thrash so violently even when thumbed up.emoThumbsup Great report BFG.emoGeezer
