Fished Nick-A-Jack Thursday. My fishing partner joined me until 9:30 and he had to leave to head off for Thanks giving dinner with his family. We caught a few smallmouth 4lb being the largest and some spotted bass. Sauger are starting to show up here and there with some keeprs mixed in being caught on football jigs topped with tuffies and a stinger hook. No particular color is producing better than another. Also saw some good sized crappie and blue gill being caught . My son came down and joined me for some hot bass action. He caught a monster spot that I will attach a photo of. We got on some good size spots for about 1 1/2 hours. My son says to me "this is like catching bream only better because they are bigger". Those fish must have been stacked like stove wood cause it was one fish after another. The fish would hit dead shad and on several occassions a shad that had been hit or wounded would be floating on top of the water and the fish would come back and hit the shad. My son and I had a great day fishing. I love to see him do his patented power pump on his toes hook set. He really crosses their eyes.

Xroads,

TVA still had two gates open. The two next to the lock wall were cracked all weekend. TVA would open and close different ones all weekend alternating which flood gates were open.

WormHook,

Those shad are hard to beat. And locating fish is easy with them. Flip the bait out there if you dont get a bite in 5 or 10 minutes or 3 or 4 cast move on the fish are not there. Pretty easy like riding a bike.

Looks like a great time. Those spots are fun to catch. Couldn't think of a better way to spend time with your son.

Congrats

boy im i glad to see someone besides me that enjoys catching spots. nothing wrong with that. i love to catch them and there are some big ones around here, but sometimes they are hard to find. i bet your son enjoyed it.
i went down to nickajack on saturday and caught about 3 15"spots and about 20 largemouth between 12"-17". all were caught between moccasin bend and raccoon mtn.
