Fished with two clients Thursday. What a beautiful day. Not a great day for numbers or quality of fish but we did manage to get some fish to bite. We proabbly could have joined the crew up and around the dam catching drum but we were after Bass, and Stripers. I think there may be too much bait. In all the years that I have fished below Nick-Jack I can't remeber seeing this much bait. My clients had an enjoyable day filled with good conversation and good weather and a few fish. It's hard to understand why you can just wear them out one day and go back the next and struggle to get the fish to bite. Maybe the weather was too good I dont know. But it sure beat working the real job. I saw flip1up and his two partners down there and they were laying some hook to the drum. I agree with flip1up it would be a good time for a youngster to get some experience on reeling in some BIG FISH. All together just a beautiful day but slow for the tailwaters at Nick-A-Jack.

If you have any question about getting your guide service started give me a call. I'll be more then glad to help.
I met your ( Brother ) Phil about 6 years ago there and can't ever remember going to Nickajack and not seeing him there. I really injoy my talks with him when I'm there.
We didn't catch a lot a stripes Wed but we did have one that went 20 pounds. I have been coming up there for 7 years now. I have never seen that much bait there. if someone will tell me how to post pictures here. I'll post one of the 20 pound.

Hey guys how bout some tips on setting up the umbrella rig I saw guides using the yesterday, how deep are those running cant be that deep maybe 6-8 feet ?? but I did notice that the rockfish where in fairly shallow water 15-20 feet and I know that the fish tend to stay below the shad and run up at them .. I guess the umbrella rig acts like a school of shad ripping thru.. and your getting a reaction strike from them simular to a fast spinnerbait for bass. any tips on the U rig or umbrella rigs would be appricated I know by me .. and others too. I can understand if you not wanting to give too much out .. after all it is your buisness. Thanx in advance for any help you can give! :)

Thanks for the report BFG! It sure does beat being at work and I can't wait to get back down that way...maybe in a few weeks. In the meantime, I sure appreciate hearing about what's happening in my favorite place to fish. emoThumbsup
