Still waiting for all the yellowtails and shad to thin out below the dam. So I'm doing my part on thining the threadfin out with the largemouth's while I and everyone else is waiting for the Rock fish bite to start. Got bait below the dam and headed up to the lake with a tank full. Free lining I just love it..... trolling along a bank with rip rap or some kind of structure (lay downs etc) flip the bait over next to the structure and BAM fish grabs hold and swims off with the bait set the hook and do it again and again and again utill you either run out of bait or daylight. On the conservative side from Friday evening yes Friday evening in the storm we caught approx 15 fish. Saturday mrng. caught approx 25 fish went back Saturday evening caught about 25 more and Sunday mrng caught about 25 more. Caught fish shallow, 6' to 2' Caught fish deep 25' to 12'. My thumb is RAW from all the fish. Freelining is a excellent way to catch bass and lot's of them. I have got a 6 year old son that has been doing this since he was 4 years old he loves it and it's easy and It keeps his attention because you get lot's of bites fast. Not to mention he also like to pick his own shad out. Plus it teaches the value of a good hook set. Cross his eye's type hook set. We had a great weekend with the lagemouth bite.
