Like JerDog and NRG said the bite was good today. They were suppose to shut the water off at 10a.m. but let it flow til close to 2p.m. JerDog left about 10, and then to my surprise here comes NRG about 1:30 I recon. A non smoking NRG I might add. I threw him a couple of shad minnows, a few minutes later I went to get us some bait with the net and he was gone, guess thats when he went down river. Anyways good to see you both.

Hopefully these pictures will load. Also caught a nice 3.7 Smallie and 2 Spots pushing 3 pounds, along with all the other usuall tailwater fish, drum, cats, whites.

Brandon, I dont think you will have any trouble getting bait with a net. Thats my first time using one and besides hitting myself in the head once with 5 or 6 of those big weights everything worked alright. You can see the bait in big balls on your fish finder, also something new to me, I thought they were just good for depth and water temp.

Well thanks to you for the net casting course, I was able to use fresh bait all day. NRG took the pic of the bigger one it was 19 lbs 15 oz. BFGs brother in law took the second pic for me it was 14 lbs. 8 oz. Man they were just biting good today I guess I caught at least a dozen, both stripers and hybrids. Caught that bigger one at about 1:30, sunny and bright, surprised me.

nice stripers flip. I too learned to cast net a few years ago. After a few whelts on my head from those big weights, I got to where I can throw it decent. I may need to go to one of the dams around here and tailrace fish.

As DHaun was teaching me, the first throw I made, I swore I lost my tooth front teeth. Moral of the story, open your mouth when you throw ;)

Great fish flip! Cast netting is the best way to catch bait and when the bait is easy you can have lively bait all day long and not have to worry about a circular live well and salt and etc, etc, etc. I also used a cast net once for shrimp in S. Carolina. Caught 13 dozen one day and had a great meal for all 10 of us that were in our party. Castnets have increased my take fishing wise by easily 300%. Keep the pics coming, you guys out there really know how to fish.

When you do the math, I could have bought 5 or more cast nets with the cost of the bait I caught. I like things that are rational and pay for them selfs, I guess everybody does though.

Flip, NICE FISH...were they all caught on live bait?

We had to leave early but as we were leaving I think they really turned on...I made 2 passes and had fish on both times...then it was time to go...The first fish we caught was real early when we got there, then nothing until we left...Did you have consecutive passes with fish? How did the 15 and 20 pounder fight?

Yes, live bait. Caught the fish not far below the boils and finally got a net under it near the long wall. It kept stripping line off, but once I got it on I loosened the drag. Cant wait to get back down there, they better not leave a door open here at work.

Spring Striper FEVER! I love it...looks like alot of the members are getting the FEVER! Anyone getting the FEVER and going to be taking of work because you are sooo sick?

I definitely have the FEVER but its probably going to be mid April before I can get back down that way....Good luck! I hope you all can save some for me!

Hey flip, Man I gotta tell you, I would bet money that the larger fish was more than 19lbs. My biggest was 17lbs and he was a lot smaller than that. Look at the gut on that thing.

I've gotta get down there.

Meant to ask, does your net have 3/8" holes or 1/4". Mine is 3/8 and I think I am going to get a 1/4 for the fall on Chick. The shad get gilled way too easily.
