Nick. Dam tailwaters 4-13-07

Went out this morning by myself. Put in before daylight. One turbine was already on and bait was EASY to get. The striper bite was tough this morning... Somewhere out there someone might have caught some but all I seemed to get was the drum and cats. One drum was 19 lbs, one was 18 lbs and 6-8 in the low to mid teens. One blue cat -11 lbs, one channel cat-8 lbs and several smaller channels. 30 skip jack were brought home to add to the freezer also. All drum and cats were caught on threadfins. Skipjacks on 1/8 oz. shad darts in white and yellow. Quit fishing around 11 am when it started looking like rain was coming up from South Pittsburg. Water temp was 60 * at the wing wall.

Were you in Nickajack in the Chickamauga Dam tailwaters or in Gunnersville in Nick tailwaters? Either way, you sure put some pounds in the boat.

Question - - - What is the purpose of the two pin looking things through the black cleat on your boat. You can see them in the pic of the Channel Cat

I actually didn't mean to not show any background on those pics. On the other hand when I am crappie fishing during the winter... that's a different story. The crappie spots have hours of time and effort in the manmade structure, etc.... We mainly fish Nick. Dam now. We tie off to the wingwall on the INSIDE( boils) side. It can get rough in there but my boat is 7 1/2 ft wide at the rails. Drum will be on the bottom right in the edges of the current. Last year in April me and my buddy Jeff caught almost 800 lbs worth of drum in a full day of fishing. The biggest that day was 24 1/2 lbs. It's enough to make your arms ache but it was a BLAST.emoBigsmile

I can just see it now.... At blast off an all out race to the wingwall only to find 1-3 other boats there and the turbins turned off. emoBigsmile emoBigsmile . emoBang
