I was going through withdrawal and got tired of waiting on friends to go fishing, so I went alone, during the worst part of the day. I got on the water at 11:00 central, fished until 2:00 central. Current began flowing just as I got on the water. Caught a total of 12 fish, most in thee first hour I was on the water. Two were keepers, all the rest of the fish were those 14 7/8" fish you just can't stretch enough for a tournament. I stayed away from the proven spots (because they had boats on them) and fished some new water. Caught a 2 lb largemouth on a shallow crank fished parallel to grasslines, and caught a 2-3/4 lb spotted bass deep cranking a point next to shallow grass. When I hooked up with the spotted bass I thought I had a monster on. Man I wish those things got as big as largemouth. Didn't do much flipping today. Between the wind, current and wakes, I got frustrated trying to hold the boat in position. Saw a stinky slick of dead mussels, and a couple jetski riders run right through the middle of the muck. Yay. Finally called it a day when the pleasure boaters got thick as the gnats.
