Got some shinners and tuffies and went to the Nick yesterday morning. I had heard from my father in law that the white bass were there, THICK. We got there at about 7am and could not find them like I usually do. Wherever they were when my father-in-law was there, they were not yesterday. We had moved around and did end up with a decent day though. Caught 3 bass, the largest being 4lbs. Also caught, 1 skipjack, 1 drum, 3 bluegill, and 8 crappie (2 keepers). No white bass though, strange...but they will be there soon. All were caught on 1/8 oz jigs tipped with a minner.

We were able to net some threadfins as well and trolled them freelined around with nothing interested in them.

Thanks for the report. It was nice to hear that you were able to get some threadfins. Were they up in the same area as last winter, when we met up with you that one morning?-------------STEVE

They were, but I had to work for them. They are in small pods and you have to hit them with the net just right. I would think that more will start to congregate in bigger schools as the winter rolls on. Have you been there lately?

Haven't been there lately. I've been up at Skull Isl. or down at riverpark. Crappies at skull isl and the spots, crappies and smallmouth at riverpark. Thanks for the info, I may have to get down to the dam soon.

Do differently? Dynamite? We are going to stop fishing at night. Unfortunatly that is the only time that I get to go (with a 2 year old son and pregnant wife) so ive been milking it for a while now. With the next kid coming in March its going to be tough to get out unless its at night or during work hours. I may have made my last cast for quite some time. We shall see.
