A friend and I put in at Sullivans Saturday morning @ 8:30 am. We fished down river with very little luck. We threw crank baites and grubs most of the day. I caught one small spot and a 2 lb.largemouth. We ended up on the south end of Mullins Cove around 4:00 pm. tired, cold and a little frustrated.

My youngest son had given me a gift certificate from Sportsman Warehouse that I used to buy an assortment of Chatterbaits (Which I was to stingy to purchase myself). emoBigsmile

As a last resort, just before we gave up Saturday, I tied on a new & free, black/blue Chatterbait. On my third flip into a brushpile, on the fall, emoEek I got a heavy slam. Set my hook and felt a big fish on. I fought it for what seemed like a couple of minutes to the side of the boat. My buddy was getting ready to help land it and guess what, it threw that pretty new Chatterbait right back at me.emoHoppingmad

I got a real good look at it, and since no one can dispute it, I'd say it would go at least 4 lbs. My buddy said we should call it an 8 pounder. emoUpsmile

I threw the Chatterbait just a few more times without any takers.

It is amazing how such a slow day fishing can be so exciting, even when you don't get the big one in the boat.
