We had a fair day in quantity but not a lot of size. We had 15 bass today and the biggest was only 3 lbs and 9 ozs. We fished shallow, medium and deep. We fished cranks, plastics, spinner baits and buzz baits. All fish were caught in the mouth and in the water.emoBigsmile

We went to the weigh in out of Marion and 1st was 17.70, 2nd was 14.00 and 3rd was 11.80. Big bass was 6.88 lbs. and there was 26 boats.

Have a good one.emoTongue Jmax

Good report! In the mouth? I was thinking that you would do better but you still have a week to work out the kinks.

i was also up there with Jmax,Tarheel, and Davo. I didnt have that kind of luck. Didnt get to leave the Shellmound area till around 9 or so to much fog, but when i did leave nothing changed. Caught one slick on a trap that was 1.3lb and that was it. But it was good to see the other members there

Good meet you Saturday Skeeter 175. I was wondering since you live in Lafayette, have you fished that lake behing Lafayette high school? I heard of some old man that has pulled some giants out of there.

I went to that lake back last fall with no luck. The ramp there is gravel and it is not even a ramp it makes a slow desent into the water, and there is no dock either. You have to put the back half of your truck in the water, which is ok but when you get the boat off you have to run it on land to get out. I got some pretty good gravel scratches on the bottom of the boat (2 days old). Havent had a chance to go back but i do plan on it soon

Pretty good report, JMax. Out of curiousity, did either of you try a Bandit crank in the Bumblebee pattern?

Skeeter, have you fished the lake on the left of 136 heading west of 27...the one with a little church on the hill just past it?

For those of you who are interested. When I got up this morning my wife decided she did not feel up to church and being the nice guy I am I told her I would get out of her hair today and go back fishing. I am just that kind of guy, so conderate and all.emoBigsmile I guess I did not get enough of the Nick yesterday and went back to try and fine tune what I learn yesterday. I am still having a hard time finding any really good size. I did break one off today but I think my line needed changing.emoBang After changing it I managed to catch a couple nice ones fairly deep. I also did catch one on a buzz that was a keeper this morning early and right behind it I caught the male on a lizard. She was a keeper he was not. I also caught one more nice keeper on plastic off a laydown. Never could catch that fifth keeper, the four I did manage to boat I weighed and the total of the four was 9lbs and 1oz. I did catch a total of 12 today so you can see that size again was the issue.emoScratch

Hey Skeeter, was that you at the ramp. Heck, sorry I didn't say anything, I didn't know who you were.

I need to do my wife a favor and go fishing more often, at least that's what I try, it just doesn't work out that way usually. She got pretty ticked when I told her that I think I need a boat with a larger front deck........mistake.

Correction: The pattern I am referring to is "Humblebee" and is no longer in production. I found a recent thread at http://www.wmi.org/bassfish/bassboard/fishing_tactics/T46160.htm detailing where you can get them at if you are interested. When I fished Nickajack, I always had one tied on and always caught a ton of bass on it. I've used it on the Chick and Hiwassee with cruddy results. There is just something about that pattern and bass on Nickajack, particularly on the river.

nope, I do not own one????emoScratch Jmax

is that one the same colors on both sides...they had one like that but was red on one side and chartreuse on the other apparently was a goof at the factory...people caught fish on it big time so they kept making it and is called "mistake "

Yeah, Mistake is a pattern that followed it after an apparent goof during production. I bought one at Sullivan's years ago thinking it was Humblebee until I opened it. Originally, it had brown/orange on one side and brown/chatreuse on the other. I've caught quite a few on it, but nothing compared to the Humblebee pattern.

I believe I`ve got one like your pic...fished it some ...caught a few on it....have done real well at times on the Mistake

(Skeeter, have you fished the lake on the left of 136 heading west of 27...the one with a little church on the hill just past it?)

Thats Gordon Pond and it is very private,

If anyone is interested, Chattanooga Fish-n-Fun has a few Bandit 100's in the Humblebee pattern. If I'm not mistaken, they are the original Bandits with Mustad hooks.
