Yesterday went to the Nick and tried to find some better bass in the grass that would be willing to take a top water bait. The water was going out so I started in a culdasack that I have caught some quick fish several times in the past when the water was doing this. Told Ryan watch this and made the first cast into the opening where the water was coming into the lake fairly quickly and the spook didn't go four feet, Bomb! a nice slick around 13 inches busted it. Ryan jumped up to the front with me and said let me try and sure enough one hit his puppy before I got mine off, a double on the first two casts.emoBigsmile We caught nine bass right there in about fifteen minutes.emoWorthyWhen you have a younger angler that's a good way to start. Crankbait and I were PM'n and he told me about a place I had done well at before that he did well last weekend on so I went there next. Large cove with lots of grass just under the surface and a small creek coming in in the back. CB cuaght his on a buzz so I was throwing that but Ryan started kicking my butt on a puppy. Had three in the boat before I had a blow up. emoRedface Momma didn't raise no fool, I switched to the spook. We caught about 13 to 14 more in there including one for Ryan that was close to four and my biggest around three. About nine thirty the sun broke out and the top water bite died.
We went several more areas but only picked up one here and there all short. It got so hot that we left at one. I did find someones bass story floating in the water. It looked to be a little over four and was a nice bass that had died. As I trolled by it I saw it had a line coming from it's mouth so I got hold of the line and pulled it up. There must of been 25 feet of line on that fish and had a red shad worm and jig head in it's throat.emoScratch If any of you all know of someone that had a ten pounder break their line using a redshad worm on a jig head tell them it was only a little over four.emoLaugh Jmax
