Went with JitterBug to Nickajack late Sunday evening. Current was flowing good when we got there. We decided to go exploring, so we went downstream instead of upstream for the first time in ages. Fished some grassy areas next to the channel and some grassy ledges in 10-15 ft of water. Caught quite a few, the biggest coming in around 2 lbs. Caught most fish on Texas-pegged lizards and worms in shades of green on the deeper edges of the grass.
Got a thorough inspection by TWRA (licenses, lights, life jackets, throw cushion, fire extinguisher, horn or whistle) while out on the lake. Officer was very polite. He made fun of me for handing him my drivers license along with my boat registration and fishing license (done out of habit from being checked on Guntersville). Later when we were taking out at Marion County Park a large aluminum boat came through the no wake zone at a high rate of speed. The boat was shaped like a barge and pushed a big wake. Wish the TWRA officer had been there to see that.
