Went fishing the river after work with my good freind FishnFool. He picked me up at the ramp at river park and we went for some skippies for bait initially. We caught one but they were so scattered and up and down everywhere that we couldn't stay on them. Decided to go for some brown bass and fished behind pilings at the Robinson bridge without a hookup but had a couple of hits. Started just floating down the river channel dragging 1/4 to 1/2 oz jigs with craw trailers over 13-15 feet of water and had a double near the downcurrent edge of the island. Small fish about 1-2 lbs. Hung up a few times, fished behind a couple more pilings downtown with some hits but no hookups. Ran up to the bluff below the Hunter Museum and caught another on an 11 foot rise and had two more, another double on a drop from 12 -19 feet, they were right on the drop. We had lots of fun and learned to fish for smallies just floating along with the current and jigging vertically. Learning new ways to catch fish is great!

Thanks again FishnFool!

Polo - What kind of boat were you in? I might have seen you yesterday. I was on the bank with my son until 7pm catching Skipjack for bait.

We were in a red aluminum Triton. Great boat and a four stroke on the back that is the quietest motor that I've ever heard.

should'a stayed up under the dam... you could have caught those fish that the Madbomber caught and turned loose... then you could have had you pictures on the forum like my dumb buddy did.... I can't get a break anymore.emoGeezer emoGeezer just kidding of course.

Good job Polo. Sounds like ya had fun and had an enjoyable time. Those 4-strokes are the thing! Only bad thing is they can sneak up on ya when ya ain't lookin too! Had a pontoon sneak in on me and liked to have scared the tar out of me when he hollered and asked how the fishing was.emoLaugh
