Had to work second shift this week so I decided that I would fish a little before I went to work...put in at marion county park and fished the bluff going up from the bridges...now that I have fished a prior tournement there I can report that I have been catching some on the ledges with big old monster worms in the watermelon red color. Hooked one that weighed about 3lbs about 9am on a monster worm on the ledges just out from where the grass beds are.. caught several more down that ledge that were close to keepers....strange thing happened as i was going down the bank flipping a jig into shady areas I seen a bass laying near some rocks, so I tossed in there and pulled out a smallie about 17''... it almost acted like it was on a bed... beautiful fish put back for some one else to do battle with it. got hot real fast and headed in.... Been trying to learn how to fish a pig and jig.... its not my favorite lure by far but im forcing myself to try it at least for a few hours when i go... any help on that matter would be surely appreciated... wouldnt mind even buying a sack of krystals for a little on the job training....

Sounds like a good morning.

On Nick I always fish a black/blue 1/4 oz jig with a #11 or smaller (if you can find the mini's) Uncle Josh blue pork. Since more of the fish I catch are spots I fish it using a medium to quick hopping action (2-3 1-2 foot hoops, let it sit for 2-5 seconds, repeat) along the bottom. This is fishing faster than a worm. The fish will almost always hit the bait on the fall so you will not feel many bits. When you pick up you will just feel some weight. Set the hook as soon as you think you have a hit.

I have sent you a PM to setup a training session.
