We both had the day off so Jerdog and I got on the water about 10:30 and started searching for threadfin...saw a few promising ripples but none could be found so we went on to the boils where one turbine was running and then they turned the rest on. I started slinging the spook and had one good hookup that blew up on top and then came back around to nail it again. I fought it for a few minutes and then it pulled off...we think it was a big bass due to the flash of color we saw. I should have set the hook better. After that there was still no bait and very few fish. We caught a hybrid and a drum jigging around on bottom but no topwater bite like last week. They were just not happening today.
We decided to get some air from all the heat and trolled around the banks downstream to score a couple small bass. After that we went back to see if they had turned on and I caught a 9lb drum. Great fight on light line but still no stripers feeding. We were able to barely catch 2 skipjacks with way too much effort for them...so we made several good drifts with no success and called it a night at about 6:00pm. Based on what I experienced last week I was betting on a super day, but it turned out to be a very slow. No bait...No fish...but it was a great day to be on the water and certainly better than going to work!
