nickajack info please

I have gotten bored fishing Weiss and want to try new water. Hows Nickajack? Where is a good place to launch and what presentations are working? Also I have never caught a smallmouth before, is this a good lake for them? Thanks TLM

Better smalljaws below Nick dam and below Chick dam than on the lower end of Nick. Though from time to time you will see a nice fat smallie on the lower lake, most I have talked with seldom see one there. Put in at Shellmound or Marion County to start. You have a lot of water on the lower end from there. Or up to Sullivans if you want more of a river experience in the gorge. All of it is good fishing. Just depends on the day... that lake is finicky as my wife!

Marion County Park has a good ramp and dock plus on site employees that keep an eye on things. Do a search under "Fishing Reports" for Nickajack and check out the latest catches. Below the dam is best for smallies.

I am a crankbait junkie, and can hold my own with everyting except the jig. I have never as in ever caught a fish on a jig. Sullivans is more than likely where I will put in. HL&S we might need to talk trade day on the water.
