This is my first report. I found this site a couple weeks ago and have really enjoyed reading the reports. I am retired and the most imporant things in my life are God, family, friends and fishing. In that order. I try to fish at least once a week. Mostly for bass but if there not biting I am happy to just catch anything or simply being on the water is a blessing.
Wednesday 11/30, I put in at Racoon Mtn. ramp and fished up river from there. I got started @ 8:am and didn't catch my first fish until around 11am. I threw everythink from grubs, finess worms and crankbaits. I caught a couple short bass on a pumpkin/chartuse tail grub. Most of my hits came on a silver/clear square D crank. I finally ended up catching 10 bass and two bluegill. The largest bass -2lb.
It was a slow but enjoyable day. The current was running strong,a little cool, water temp.was@ 53 degres and I had the river all to myself. emoHoppingmad I'm Happy to Post, THanks

Glad to have you BeeBasser, I'm like you, had been watching the forum for a while, and decided to join. Great group of guys on here!emoCool

Hey BeeBasser,

Welcome aboard! I noticed you fished out of Racoon Mountain...any smallmouth bass there that you have stumpled across?...I was there a few years ago and it looked some some good water for smallmouth.

JerDog,
I've caught a few smallmouth along the rocks up and down river from Racoon mtn. I like catching smallie's, they have more fight in them. :) I seem to catch more spots on that part of the river.

BeeBasser, thanks for joining us, for your post, and for your witness! We do have a great group of folks(guys and gals), the gals just haven't started posting much. I have heard from a buddy that sometimes the bass really stack up in the upriver part of the deep hole there at the Raccoon Mt. Pump station. In fact one friend told me once that he caught more fish suspended in that hole one winter than he had ever caught anywhere. That area is very interesting to me and as far as I have seen it is the deepest part of the river anywhere near here. I went over the hole once and saw 95 feet. That's the deepest hole that I've seen in the TN river lakes. I only have been on the Chick, Nickajack, upper G'ville, and Kentucky lake however. How deep have you recorded there? I have only run past it and never fished the outflow area. Once again, it's great to have you.

Welcome on board BeeBasser! This is a great place to learn more about fishin our area. I've not been a member long, but have already met some great people. Our first CFF event was a blast and I hope we will have more, especially when the weather gets better. I appreciate your priorities and the fact you make others aware. I am blessed to call Christ my Lord and have become friends with other believers like Polo-dog and Jmax because of this forum. I gain strength from my Christian friends. I hope to be able to meet you some day, maybe at a CFF event or out on the water. What kind of boat do you run so I'll know what to look for? I've got a Coral Fish & Ski (the only one around here I think), so if you see me out, give me a shout.

Doing Much Better than I Deserve!

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome. From reading the post for a while, I have seen that this is a great forum with alot of good information and a great bunch of fellow fishermen and Christians.
I sputter around the river and local lakes in a 2001 Bumble Bee 2100, with a 225 Yamaha. It is dark red and midnight blue on the side and midnight blue on top. If you come down to Racoon mountain on some winter days, you may see my white Dodge Truck and boat trailer sitting all alone at the ramp. There are not very many Bumble Bee Boats In this area, so if you see a REd & Blue one, give me a shout.

I haven't learned all your web handles yet, but I appreciate the spots marked on the river map. I recgonize most of those places where I have had success many times.

The deepest River reading that I can recall on my depth finder is 110 feet, directly in front of the Racoon mountain spillway.
