Got up early this morning and set out to Nickajack. Got there at 7:15am EST and launched the boat with friend of mine. Water temp. was 80F and air temp in the mid 60's...No breeze and so saw some bait flipping on the top of the water in the bay area by the boat ramp. Made some casts and misssed. Decieded to use the electronics to mark a big school down 10 feet. Threw the net and hit 2 dozen 6" Threadfins! I knew it was going to be a good morning for Stripers.

Got 2 rods out with hook and sinkers. Fished straight down (downlined), a foot off the bottom, and in the first 5 minutes had a bump, then a fish. First fish was about 4 lbs. Got the fish in and a successful release. Loaded up the bait again and dropped them down. 5min., another fish..a bit bigger at about 6lbs. Fished for about another 10 min and had another fish on that got off. About the same size. All was going well till TVA did what they always seem to do when the fishing is hot, they shut off the generators! 1 hour into fishing and a livewell full of fish and nothing emoBang

They weren't supposed to shut them off, but they did and so we tried in vain with no more action. Good Fishing Though.

glad you got some before you got "TVA-ed"...sounds like the bite was rockin'
btw...nearly every stripe i've caught lately below the dams has red sores on 'em...are yall seeing that up there?

It's good to know they are starting to hit down there again and I think it's only going to get better! Were the threadfin you netted near the wingwall or in the bay?

Threadfins were in the bay flipping this morning...By noon we went back to get more and they were gone....not sure where they go...but I think they move into the bay at night and back out to deeper water in the morning...I have seen this pattern before.

The stripers I have caught over the past month have been just fine .....they are very healthy and agressive.
