Thinking about fishing Nickajack next weekend. I've only fished it once before 4-5 years ago and we had a pretty good day, but haven't been back since. We launched at the ramp near the dam, but I'm wondering if we should go somewhere else? Somewhere on the Nashville side, because if I drive all the way into Chattanooga I'm going to Chick lol. My buddy drove over it last week, saw the grass and wants to throw a frog. Is anyone catching fish on the frog, or should we fish off shore?

There are plenty of fish on the railroad bed that will hit a popper or a buzz bait but size is lacking. I have fished there for the last four weeks preparing for club tournaments. I won one and finished 3rd this past Saturday. Our best bite size wise was on grass edges up river. It's still a little early for a strong frog bite but you will find some willing to play if you find the right mats.

There's a ramp at the Marion County Park. Get off I24 at exit 158 go towards Dunlap turn south on RT 41 and park is on the right.

I don't think trying to follow a bullet in my Ranger RT 188 tin boat will work out too well lol. Thanks George I will look into that ramp.

Well, I didn't get down there, because I was an idiot and I must have left my swing away tongue pin on my truck bumper the last time out. Funny how something so simple makes it impossible to tow the trailer lol. Anyway, bought a new one and I'm back in business. I am thinking about going the on 9/10 now. Is one end of the lake better than the other? I would like to catch some smallies and it seems like they are caught up river closer to the Chick dam, am I wrong? Where is a safe place to launch up that way?

maybe 20 at the most.it is on the same road as the tennessee state police is on.road runs along side the river for quiet aways.

Chick Dam.....put in at the riverpark. Yep, run up to the dam and (use caution going under RR bridge) shallow. Then fish the moving water, if there is any. I say you will hook up a smallie.

The Tennessee river park ramp on Amnicola hwy is the ramp you want, about two miles below the dam. An excellent brown fish area if they're pulling a lot of water.
