A friend and I decided to go hit some golf course ponds last night before I go out of town. We started out at 9:30 at our favorite Golf course pond, and no sooner had we got there, we got run off by the grounds keeper. So we left there and hit another pond I know of in an office park. This lake is about 10 acres and is fed from an underground cave system. It has rocks around it and fallen trees, and I would guess is at least 20' deep. My buddy and I walked opposite ways around this lake and meet on the other side. I threw a black buzzbait and he threw a black jitterbug. By the time I got around to where he was, I had caught three fish, two were about 4 lbs and one about 2 lbs. All fish were right off the bank and I was able to catch them throwing parallel to the bank. My buddy got one about 13" on the jitterbug and that was it for him. By now it is 12:00 am and we head back to the golf course we got run out of earlier. We get there and the moon was bright enough to see the water glistening from the three lakes on this golf course. For those of you who have been to Knoxville, this is the golf course that borders Webb school and is named after a DEAD farm animal. We Walked to the lakes and start fishing, he went one way, and I the other. The first lake is about 15 acres and has lots of Spiney leaf naiad growing around the sides. I start throwing the buzzbait parallel to this grass and on the third cast, I caught one about 12". Every other cast was spent trying to get the weeds out from my buzzbait. As I walked down this bank, which is right on the edge of the fairway, I caught four more between 12-14". At the end near the clubhouse, there is a cartpath that goes between the first two lakes and I just hop over to the second lake. First cast, I catch one about 2 lbs. I walked around this lake which is maybe 10 acres, and caught at least a dozen or more about 12" long. These fish were more off the bank because the second lake was down about a foot. This lake has lots of rocks and some wood in it, and has the Spiney leaf naid growing along with moss. I finaly see my buddy at the back of this lake and hes has only caught a couple on the jitterbug. We then seperated and fished the other side of the lake. I caught another dozen or so around the other side that were all around 12". When we finally got back to the starting spot, it was 4:00 am. We were both tired and called it a night. In all, I caught at least 30 fish, and had at least double that hit the buzzbait. All I can say is, this was fun, and I plan on doing this again when I get back from PA. I guess it is like the old saying "stolen watermelon taste a whole heck of alot better than store bought watermelon".

Love it! I've played that course jtf ... sounds like I should have been fishing it instead. Reading pond reports always brings back a flood of memories from when I was a lad. I still wish I had some of those ponds around the house...
