Before I take into the shop wanted to get some suggestions. 2003 Evinrude 225HO will run in idle or wot for about 150yds. Then I get the no oil warning and of course engine shuts down, turn key to off position then turn back on error clears and runs fine for another 150yds. Oil resevoir is full, pump bulb is tight and stays tight. Any suggestions?

you have one of two problems either a bad oil pump or bad switch on oil injector give Marine Specialty 423-875-3882 a call

Actually spam is correct. There are other things. Could be a connection, shorted wire, pinched wire, bad pump, bad switch(float) in the oil tank. The tanks switch is easy test. Simply unplug it. If it doesn't come on it is a bad switch. This is a FICH engine and I will tell you I don't know much about them. I know how the work, but have never worked on them nor care to. You can buy the software off ebay to use a laptop on it and check codes. It may be worth looking into. Just make sure it covers your year model Just my thoughts.

The oil tank switch is just to let you know that the tank is low it will not put the engine into (s.l.o.w.) which is what it sounds like is going on . the system check guage has another light for low oil . they had a problem with the switch on the oil injector we have replaced several of them
