Well guys, I've had an accident that's going to keep me off the water for a while. For the last week I've been building a front porch on our house and my wife asked me to finish it before my daughter's BD Party yesterday. Things were going well and it looked like finishing it before 4 yesterday was going to be a breeze. I had all the deck done and was working on the railing. I was over 1/2 way done with the rail. I was using a table saw and ws ripping 2x4s for the spindles. I picked up a scrap piece of wood and just needed to shave a 1/4 inch off the board. I used a block of wood on the left side of the board and another board to push the wood through to keep my fingers away from the blade. When the 2x4 went through the saw and and fell, the board I was using to keep the hand away from the blade slide and hit the blade. This knocked my hand lose and my thumb hit the blade....

4 hours, 12 stiches and 1 lortab later I'm singing happy birthday to the little one, doped up on pain pills and feeling pretty good. Today however, I'm in a black mood realizing that I'm going to be off the water longer than I'd like.

I'll do you all a favor and not post pictures of the thumb. It's a bit unsightly today.

Ugh, right during the crappie spawn too. However I praise the lord that it was a gash on the thumb and not the whole thing!

Someone catch a few in my name!

Glad to hear you are still with ten. Just be thankful you had a guardian angle looking over you.emoAngel Jmax

So does that mean you will ride shotgun and be a guide for me for the next few weeks? Fishing a lot of new water and I'll need a "thumbless", no casting in my spot, back seater who knows the Riverpark and Chick!!!!
Hope it heals well and no lasting affect. At least it wasn't a dato blade....
