Ok I finally got around to upgrading the software on my HDS5x. Well now I have no temp reading. I no its not the puck because I tried the unit off my other puck with is giving a good temp to my 522 unit and still no temp on the HDS unit. Tried the 522 with the puck for the HDS and got temp. I have the correct transducer selected. Anybody have any ideas on what to check??

Yeah, have the same problem. I have to reset the source each time you start up, so I just let it go without the temp as I have temp at the dash. I think it is a glitch on the HDS5x only.

Hit menu, menu, network, then data sources, hit enter and scroll over and select sonar and scroll to water temp andenable hd5x this unit and see if that helps. I think this happened because the latest update activated LSS temp as a option and it reset those settings.Hope this helps emoToast </p>

Hey Labman try what Bronzeback suggested I did and now my temp works perfectly!!! Thanks a bunch Leonard..

Been there and done that, but it reverts back when you turn unit off, so have to reset each time. And it affects only the HDS-5x and not my HDS-5 at the dash.

Are your units networked??? If so you might have the check the setting on the other unit. My units are NOT networked and I just went out and checked. Powered up and down several times and each time I had temp!

Yes networked by ethernet, so I have downscan or sidescan from LSS on both units. So probably being overrode by LSS or something.

Yep I would say that is the issue. Hey try this

Check the setting for your temp source by doing this:

Menu>Menu>Network>Data sources>Sonar>Water Temperature>Menu>
Scope>Local

Set the active source as HDS-# Sonar [This Device]

I got this procedure from Bass Boat Central and I think it factors in that the unit is networked.

Let me know

Set both units to local labman, the 5x at the bow can read your xducer temp on trolling motor and the HD5 can read the LSS temp at console. Thats how I've got my settings. If your sharing sonar between units that may have somthing do with it too.

Ok, I got it now, I forgot about the "local" setting. I knew that but just missed that step. Lowrance makes it hard to get everything set just right sometimes.

Thanks for the help Blue and Bronze.
