Preparing to trailer boat at Grasshopper Creek ramp today at approximately 800pm. Three guys in a red Bass Tracker were leaving when I got out of my boat and walking to my truck. Backed trailer down ramp into water. While walking down the dock to boat I heard a boat coming WIDE OPEN. It was the same three guys. I thought he would power down. WRONG. He came through the no wake zone and by the ramp wide open. Had I not hurried to get into my boat, my boat would have been damaged. I quickly removed the mooring line, started big engine and headed into to his wake to avoid a disaster. When leaving I only observed one bass tracker trailer hitched to a red Chevy Silverado. I believe he had veteran tags. What a complete and total jerk.

Sometimes it happens. emoBang I was at HBSP putting my stuff up at the landing there just floating out by the gas dock. I hear a boat coming fairly fast and look up to see a no brain air head of a guy in an old ski boat with a couple people still hauling to the little dock there at the ramp. I bet he was still going about 25 as he passed me. He threw up a good wake that hit me, the gas dock and all who were tied up there at the landing. emoCrazy I kept looking around thinking, "Where is the rangers when this kind of idiot comes in here on plan." You just can't fix stupid and they walk among us. emoGoofy Jmax

Wait till this weekend and on the 4th when all the once or twice a year boaters come out to show everyone they have a boat and can navigate water. Think I'll just go sit in a lawn chair at the ramp and have fun watching the circus!

The most entertaining thing I can think of for a boating related activity this particular few days. Watch the husband and wife marital confrontations.

I think some of us should get together with each of us having ten large cards numbered 1 through 10 and score folks launching/retrieving at a popular ramp. Too bad we can't bring along a cooler of adult refreshments to help the scoring. emoLaugh

We camp there regular..told the lady there and she said nothing can really be done. I was up there sunday and had 3 boats come thru on plane or half plane. I was jigging the deep bank between the two no wake buoys. I don't know but ive seen it there more than anywhere.

I guess twra would have to enforce the no wake zone, good luck with that.
For the ramp skill scoring, you would only need 1-5. Nobody's getting a higher score than that this weekend

It gets a little rough out on the river here but- be glad you don't live and boat on Lake of the Ozarks! If you thought there are a holes in big boats here? well... Once an angler friend of mine was fueling up on a Sat tx and had his 20' Ranger get thrown up onto a gas dock from a huge wake from a cruiser! In a no wake zone!

I wonder what they are thinking when they are cruising thru the no wake zone and me and whoever is fishing with me stop and turn and start shaking our heads at them as they go bye? I guess some ppl are oblivious to those buoys and what they mean. I guess they think we are looking at someone else lol.

I agree, I think that is the best ideayet!</p>

i go there regularly. i bank fish there a lot and use grasshopper when i am taking the boat out. i am pretty sure i have seen the tracker you are talking about a few times. i have seen quite a few people lately coming through on plane. thought about throwing a 1/2 ounce jig at them. if i see them next time and they do it i will say some thing to them.

I am all about respecting "no wake" signs. And I do, but technically, unless a no wake buoy has the state law number printed on it, it can't be enforced legally. I rarely get up to G hopper so I don't know. Law enforced no wake zones have a floating sign with the law code displayed at the bottom, I'd think that with the ramp and campground in such a narrow creek' should be state law enforced. Its just like a dangerous curve on a road- Seems that until someone gets hurt or killed, the county won't do anything about posting a sign. They need to be petitioned otherwise. Same on the water- TVA needs to be petitioned to approve an official no wake zone. Cornering and talking to these rude offenders is really all we can do. Hope it sinks in.
