Did everyone zero out this weekend? I figured it would be loaded with some smiling kids with there deer. We actually saw a very good buck sunday, he just wouldn't come with in range. All and all it was still fun to be out in the woods with the kids even tho we didn't bring any meat home!

Sunday I took 11 year old Christopher Burkhart and his Dad. We only saw 2 deer all day and nothing after the morning fog lifted. I think the full moon hurt us a little bit. We had a lot of fun though and plan to return this weekend with muzzleloaders.

The full moon definitely had an effect. I hunted Sunday morning and every hundred yds or so I would bump deer. A few times I just saw green dots in the dark and then the dreaded blow and crashing! Once I got in stand and it was getting light I only saw 2 very small yearlings. Looked like they were just feeding their was back to the bedding areas. I should have slept late and went that afternoon until dark. A bright full moon seems to mess up my hunting quite a bit.

I took my daughter sunday morning we had one that was in a thicket that just would not come out . we hunted untill about 10:30 . as we were walking back to the truck my daughter found her first deer track . she was alll jacked up finding that she made a little circle with her hands and I took a pic of it with my cell phone . just seing her that excited was worth the trip

I took my nephew saturday morning and we saw 2 in the 4-wheeler head lights and 3 more glimpses of deer after daylight, lots of tree rats and some chipmunks but no shots. I agree the full moon had them messed up.

I took my 7 year old daughter sunday evening and she killed a little bitty spike that had horns about an inch long but she couldnt have been more happy if it had been a world record. It was her first time hunting and really the first time she had ever shoot a gun. We saw the deer about 100 yards in the field and about the same time it saw us but it didnt run and instead walked rite towards us and ended up at about 35 or 40 yards when she laid the smack down on it. She was shooting a youth model 243 and when she touched the trigger the deer just rolled. she made a perfect shot rite behind the shoulder. Im not sure who was more tore up me or her. It was funny though when we took it down to Stanley's in sale creek i thought she was going to have a break down because we had to leave it there. I will post some pics as soon as i can.
