I joined a couple of weeks ago after lurking for a long time. I have had fun reading all of the posts during that time so figured I would go ahead and join. Did my first post last night.

I grew up fishing in creeks, never fished the river until 1984 (when I was 23). Then we fished at Chickamauga Dam, up at Booker T. or at Savannah Bay. The wife and I loved it when they put River Park in, fishing the piers there for a number of years when we lived in Collegedale. We now live in Dade County, GA., and fish mainly around Nickajack. I love to fish the tail waters for big cats (or ANYTHING that will bite!), who get their photo taken and then released. The wife does not care for the rough water and would prefer some quiet bream fishing.

Hope to get to fish enough to post some more this year. Sometimes metal detecting (this the CSA after my name) takes all of my time if a good site is getting bulldozed. Or if I am gone to NASCAR races at Bristol......

I was thinking the other day I should start metal detecting the lake for lures. Welcome aboard.

Beware, TVA will grant a permit for detecting at designated swimming areas, boat ramps and camping areas. Other than that, they will prosecute. You can walk the bank and collect but if you dig, that is the go ahead for them to bust you.

Two of my sons did collect over a dozen lures Saturday at Shellmound, walking along the bank and getting them from trees. I would show a photo but then someone may try to claim their finds! I bet a few folks here lost some of them.

emoWelcome to the forum from Doc1, glad to have you. Metal detecting used to be my main hobby years a go but I haven't done it in years, it is a fasinating hobby.

Yes, just tell the boys those two white 5/8 oz Strike King Chatterbaits are mine. Danny (Blazer) lost a dandy Strike King Red eye on the downed tree below the ramp, at the camp. Just shoot them over.... LOL

Glad you aren't lurking anymore. Look forward to your posts!
