At last nights meeting we were able to resolve the issue of what constitutes an approved or qualified angler/team to fish CFF bass tournaments for 2009. As declared by majority vote, "each boat must contain a minimum of 150 general posts, in any combination". The posts can be split in any way. This means that any single member with 150 posts or more can fish with a guest, non-member, newbie or alone.

There was discussion regarding, how to qualify new members, so as to encourage and facilitate participation whereby, it was suggested that previous "guests or newbies" be given two passes to fish, in lieu of the 150 post rule. While we didn't vote on this issue last night, I think it would be easy enough for everyone to weigh in here on this thread and vote yea or ney. My vote is YEA, for this "two pass" guest and new member allowance.

Further, it was the desire of the committee to encourage veteran members to fish with new members to help drive meaningful contribution to the forum.

Additionally, we were able to draft a tentative schedule of events, which I will post seperately and there was discussion of a points system which needs to be kicked around a little more.

Thanks to those who participated and we missed those that were unable to attend. Hopefully our next meeting can draw a full committee and we can complete the official rules and confirm our schedule.

I hope I have fairly represented what was discussed but please feel free to chime in with everything I failed to mention. Thanks, Al

Thanks for posting that Al.

150 post with 2 free passes for newbies, sounds pretty good to me.

If we end up getting a good number of boats at the Txs, keeping up with all the guys/guests/newbies and who fished with who is going to be a pain I would think. If I'm not mistaken it was mentioned to have a sign up the day prior, correct? Don't know if ya'll went any further on that after I left or not.

As far as the new member/guest policy, I am fine with that idea. But for clarification, that would mean if I bring a new guy who only has 15 posts and he fishes the Tx with me. Next week he wants to fish with me again, but I can't make it. So he could bring his boat and another guest and that be one of his 2 passes? And then the same would apply to his guest? He would revieve 2 passes as well?

Not trying to confuse anyone or step on any toes, but I think it's something to be addressed. I'm not sure if we want to end up having a 5-page list full of guests using free passes to fish our Txs. I don't think that is what we are wanting to accomplish. Most of these guests will never contribute to the forum in any way, which is what I think we are looking for. So in my opinion, whoever they bring has no free invites to come fish with us. They can join the forum and contribute like everyone else for all I'm concered, and then the free pass rule would apply to them.

Hell I dont know. Bourbons talkin' to me tonight. Feel free to piss on any ideas of mine! emoProtest

Dang Adam, did you have to make it that confusing??LOL In reality you bring up some very good points. My thoughts are to keep the rules, short and direct and easy to enforce. With all the mods and both admins on the committee, they can tell us the easiest way to administer and what works and what doesn't. My take on the two pass exception is, any person (guest, newbie, or otherwise) with less than 150 posts can fish two tx and will be encouraged to become contributing forum members. If they fish and win and don't contribute, then they have shot their wad and we still got to fish with our friends and enjoy the fellowship afterwards and those guys won't have that opportunity again. My 2 cents. Al

Good notes Al.

I say yeah to the 2 pass rule.

Adam, It wont be too tough to keep up with the post count and who's who, even with newbies there we will still have a member in each boat.

Thats cool guys, Im just overthinking myself...damn i never thought I could accomplish that!

In that case I am all for the 2 pass rule. Ive actually already spoke to a few buds this evening and was mentioning the basic format ideas and the pass rules. The ones I spoke to seemed very fond of the basic ideas and I really look forward to kicking this thing off in a few months!

Hey guys... sorry I missed the meeting, but I couldn't catch a cab from Vegas emoBigsmile

Have you considered having initial registration for the tourneys to be on the forum, and make this a requirement for participation. This would allow easier determination for eligibility. I wouldn't punish anyone who signs up if something comes up that keeps them from making the commitment.. but, if they want to fish, and are active in the forums, signing up on a tourney thread shouldn't be a negative issue. It would be easy to see who is going to fish, and view their message counts. It would be a good way to document intended newbies and 'pass' utilization and make sure eligibility validation doesn't force any quick decisions to be made at the ramp. This could help keep up with who's fishing, how many passes have been used, and keep a visible record of who is intending to fish the tourney. A deadline could be set for sign up and have time to resolve any issues prior to the tournament, making things run more smoothly without any questions about who can fish.... if you're on the list, you fish... if not, you don't... cut and dried. If someone doesn't have access to the forum to sign up, then they could be allowed to have someone post their intentions for them.

My 2 cents ( all I have left after donating to the casinos ) emoBigsmile

Thanks for your reply Randy. You make some good points. We most definitlely will do sign-up on the forum like we always have. My opinion is to be as accomodating as possible and allow sign-up at the ramp as long as they are within the two pass rule. Our last tx series had some stringent rules that made it tough on some and my thought is to encourage participation within reason. Thanks

Kewl .... Since I haven't been in a position to be at any of the meetings, I've just voiced a concern that obviously you guys have already addressed.. my apologies ;o) I understand that you guys have experiences in dealing with these situations in earlier events and respect this. I'll voice my opinions and make suggestions, as I'm sure you're expecting... and will abide by any consensus that's decided on. I'm looking forward to working with you guys and hope to see a successful venture .... I want to contribute and help this expand to something we all can be proud of :)

Randy
