It was a bad morning at work so we went fishing.WE "Joe" and I got to skull island after 12 pm . saw Fishing Fool he said they had a good morning. we caught some cats. I got a 24 ties my PB,10, 6,and a bunch of dinks under 3.

Is it true if your catching little cats, the big ones aren't around?

Its always good to see friends on the water.

Tileman, It was good to see you! Hope you guys get to work tomorrow and those folks will stop holding you up. A 24 ain't nothing to sniff at! I'd be tickled to death to bring in a 24! Good job buddy!

Good job Tileman, What were ya'll using for bait? I might actually get to go some time in the next week. Some fish, any fish would be great for me.

Yeah man..Ill take a 24lber anytime. They are all fun to catch. I was down at the riverpark yesterday around noon and it looked like they were really running some water...I was thinking it sure would be a good day to be up in the lake lookin for a nice cat to sample my bait..but I had to go back to workemoDoh

GOOD REPORT TILEMAN. I WOULD ALSO TAKE A 24 LBER ANY TIME. WHEN WE GO CAT FISHING WE USUALLY GO IN FRONT OF SEQUOYAH. WE USED TO US CHICKEN LIVER BUT ONE OF OUR BUDDIES TOLD US HE WAS CATCHING THE HECK OUT OF THE WITH CHICKEN HOT DOGS. JUST A SUGGESTION.emoToast

Tileman.. it has been my experience that you will often find similar-sized cats bunched in some areas. However you never know when a big one will "sneak in there." Plus, it also seems to me that you are likely to find more of "mixture" ... big and small, in the Sequoyah area. I believe it is because you do have a wide mixture of differing structure within a relatively small general area. It's the best place I know of where you really are likely to catch anything from dinks, up to a 100-pound-plus beast.

There must be a ton of catfish taken out of there a week . I've been fishing there once or twice a week this summer and I've seen as many as 25 boats there one
Saturday morning . And one morning there were 2 guy out there running trotlines
seemed like they had a fish on every hook.
Do they observe the same creel limits we do ?

We have no "creel limits" per se, with the exception that sportfishermen can keep only one fish per day over 34-inches long. Folks fishing commercial gear (trotlines, nets, baskets, etc.) can keep "ZERO" over 34-inches long. Thye have to throw all big fish back. Otherwise, there is no limit on the number any of us can keep. I know it seems "bothersome" watching commercial anglers keeping hundreds of fish.... however keep in kind that this is nothing new. The commercial guys have been catching/keeping catfish all along... long before the seeming "catfish sportfishing" interest has come along. Obviously they haven't hurt anything, and there are actually far fewer commercial anglers now than there used to be. It's hard work. The relatively new 34-inch regulation should keep more of those "trophy cats" in the water much longer. Otherwise, at this point, I don't believe they're hurting a thing.
