Is 87 octane suitable for most DI two-strokes such as the E-TEC, Yamaha HDPI, or Optimax's . . . or do most of you run a little higher octane rating? I'm not in to racing or super high performance, I'm just interested in keeping a motor running well.

Thanks!

87 octane is all you need to run in almost all direct injected engines except for some of the merc racing optimax's. If you run anything higher than 87 all your doing is wasting your money and your not helping the engine any way do to the fact that more carbon build up when you run higher octane fuel. Because the engine isn't designed to burn it. Except for the new 300xs optimax, and some of the older 250xs optimax's. But not any of the new pro xs motors.
